Mission Statement

I’m passionate about designing and the creative process, from the initial challenge to every aspect of the problem solving involved. My approach to design and critical thinking includes being sensitive to the needs and context of the design and the practicality of executing it, as well as the needs of the people who will be using or living in it.

My design philosophy is to come up with a creative design approach and a strong guiding concept to enable good design. It’s very important to me to be compassionate and sensitive to the needs and wants of the clients and to help them clarify their ideas. This kind of information about clients is critical for me, because it allows me to design with all their needs in mind in a very upfront way, rather than having to do later “add ons” to accommodate their requests.

While I firmly believe that creative concepts are the first steps in making designs successful, I’ve learned that it’s just as important be detailed-oriented and to work with other great professionals in their fields of expertise to complete the project in the best way possible.

I find that the creative process can also be expressed in the mundane aspects of a project like meeting the challenge of finding a material that best represents the design or consider how best to construct it and detail it so that it represents my idea.

It is one thing to have a good concept as a guiding light, but if I don’t follow through with the important details, prioritize them and make sure that all the pieces work together, then the project will fall short of its ultimate goal to work so that it can stand on its own. Furthermore, I am always interested in learning more about new technologies and incorporating them, while being very pragmatic in their use.

I am always expanding my horizons through using architecture and new mediums to come up with creative solutions. I am not so much looking to reinvent myself, but to add to what I’ve learned, and to discover new ways of thinking. That will enable me to develop new ideas and to collaborate on innovative ways to problem-solve.
